Why is the account called a Spending Account instead of a Checking Account?
Your Clair Spending Account is not a "checking account" because it does not issue personal checks. You Clair Spending Account functions as a debit account that you can use for purchases, cash withdrawals, ACH transfers to pay bills or to individuals, instant transfers, and even mailing cashier's checks. A cashier's check will withdraw funds immediately and send them to the destination address. This is unlike a personal check where funds are not withdrawn until the recipient cashes or deposits the check.
